Class Expectations - All Technology Classes
Technology class will emphasize digital citizenship and the development of functional and creative skills using a computer and a variety of applications. All assignments and projects will provide foundational skills that can be easily integrated into other academic areas. Students will work individually and collaboratively over the course of the semester.
Assignments:
Complete assignments correctly, accurately, and on time.
Maintain a notebook in chronological order of notes, certificates, handouts, project examples and assessments.
If you are absent, you will be expected to arrange a convenient time to makeup work missed.
If you finish early, begin another assignment related to this class.
No assignments for other classes are to be worked on during class time without permission.
Students will be expected to work independently, in pairs, or groups.
Homework:
Every effort will be made to give you enough time in class to finish all assignments.
You may do work at home, but it is not required.
Keep all assignments in a 3-ring binder, do not throw away any thing.
Grading:
Each assignment will be assigned a point value. A student’s final average is compiled by the total number of points and divided by the possible points to create an average.
For example*:
Class assignments = 20 pts
Notebook checks = 10 pts
Assessments = 50 pts,
Collaborative projects = 50 pts
Individual projects = 50 pts
* (Not necessarily the amounts , TBD by teacher)
Each project will also include consideration of work ethic, creativity, presentation, and when appropriate, team work.
Use Computers Properly and Ethically:
Follow all computer use rules. Violations will be dealt with appropriately.
Comply with the Network/Internet Access Agreement:
E-mail (for personal use), updating personal web pages, instant messaging, social networking sites (Facebook, etc.), use of bulletin boards, chatting, or playing games are not allowed at anytime in the classroom, unless it is part of the assignment.
Do not use another student’s login ID, Internet access, or network folders for any reason.
Attendance Policy:
Students are expected to come to class prepared and complete assignments on time.
Bring 3-ring binder, pen/pencil, and flash drive with you to EVERY class.
Tardiness:
You are to be in the room and headed toward your seat at the appropriate scheduled time.
Tardies will be handled according to school policy.
Professional Conduct:
Professional conduct means good behavior. Please respect the ideas of others. Be polite. Have a good attitude. If you have a concern or conflict with any activity, or if you are faced with a personal crisis, please discuss it privately with me immediately.
